From the Principal

2009-2010 School Year:

Welcome to Hargrave High School, Home of the Fighting Falcons!  We have many new things taking place at HHS this year...it's an exciting time to be a Falcon!!

I'd like to introduce you to our new initiatives this year.  These have been put in place to make Hargrave the best high school in Texas - a place where YOUR student wants to be - a place where YOUR student feels welcomed, challenged, and cared for - a place that teaches, encourages, and rewards good character, strong leadership, and service to others.
ASPIRE
                 Together We Aspire...Together We Achieve!

This is a district-wide 5-year vision initiative in which we are committed to building the following at each campus:
" Active Student Body
" Safe, Secure & Student Centered Finances and
    Facilities
" Personalized staff/student relationships are built
    & maintained
" Institutionalized use of cutting edge technology
" Responsible and Character Rich Kids
" Educational Excellence with Career Connections

In addition to ASPIRE, HHS has introduced our Quest for Excellence program this year.  This, too, will be a 5-year program at Hargrave.  Students are rewarded in Quest for grades, behavior, attendance, extra-curricular involvement, community service, among other things.  Students have opportunities each 6 weeks to earn a Hargrave Knighthood in QuestRoyal Knight (top honors), Silver Knight, or Red Knight.  Each level of knighthood offers a variety of prizes and benefits for the students.  Applications will be given to students along with report cards each 6 weeks.

Our other new program is our RAK Pack program - students are recognized for their Random Acts of Kindness (RAK); this is an elite group of students who are recognized by a staff member for going above and beyond in being helpful to others and/or for showing outstanding commitment to building P.R.I.D.E. at Hargrave.  RAK Pack members earn a special t-shirt and opportunities to win prizes in special drawings.

Our character ed program this year is tied directly into our Quest and Aspire programs:  HHS has  P.R.I.D.E.  The areas of character we are focusing on are:   P atriotism, Respect, Integrity, Discipline, and Excellence in all we doThis, too, will be a 5-year program for Hargrave.

We could use your help in making each of these programs a success for our students.  If you are willing to volunteer your time, please contact Cyndi Williams at cwilliams@huffmanisd.net.

Respectfully,

Shirley Hitt,
Proud Principal of Hargrave High School
