Have a great summer!!!!

Next year's Pre-AP English II students,
I have attached the novel and the summer reading packet on the right side of this page. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. There are instructions for that on the document.
I look forward to meeting you!
This year's learners and parents,
In this unprecedented time in the world, much less the world of education, we must find ways to keep a sense of normalcy. With this in mind, to access the assignments for my classes, all students should log onto It's Learning through the student portal. I will have a weekly calendar there for you. All of the assignments will be assigned by Monday of the week and they will be due on Sunday by 11:59 p.m.
If you need assistance with anything, you can email me at dalston@huffmanisd.net and I will get back to you as soon as possible. My official office hours are from 10:00-12:00; however, I will be monitoring my email all day from 8:00-3:00.
Please keep in mind that all assignments can be done until the grade of 100 is reached if your students are willing to put in the time and effort.
Keep up the social distancing and hand washing! I hope to see you all soon.
Now, for a little about me!  I am an avid reader, and I sing in two choirs (I'm an alto!). This is my 25th year to teach. It seems like a long time, yet I remember when I first started just as if it were yesterday. I have taught everything from 7th grade to 12th grade English, and I also have other certifications (but I don't get to use them). I have a Bachelor of Arts in English from Sam Houston State University and a Masters of Education in Learning and Technology from Western Governors University. I love technology and innovation in education, so I keep abreast of the latest studies with regard to how the brain works and how students best learn. I guess if I were to sum up the about me section, I would say that I love reading, singing, and learning!
Outside of the classroom, I am the Journalism UIL Coach, the Literary Criticism Coach, and the Assistant One Act Play Director. I love seeing our students shine both inside and outside the classroom.
